On the weekend of August 22- 23 1998, kickers from Canada, America and other nations will converge upon Stanley Park to compete in Footbag Net and Golf, and to shred in circles in the sunshine at the 12th Annual Vancouver Open Footbag Net Tournament . We have the same high visibility site as last year - at Brockton Oval - attracting thousands of spectators, intrigued and riveted by the sight of women and men jousting for control of a two-inch footbag at over seven feet in the air.

As always, our goals for this event include increasing participation, pushing the sport to ever higher FEETs of athletic achievement, and exposing more potential kickers and sports fans to Footbag. This year, however, we must leave No Bag Unkicked in our quest for increased public awareness, as we have been invited to host the World Championships in 2000!

More details will be posted here soon, but if you have any questions please contact us. Set High - Dig Deep - Spike Hard !

THE BASIC TOURNEY SCHEDULE:
Friday: kicking in the afternoon, registration 7pm at the Sunset
Grill at 2204 York Ave. at Yew St. (1 block from Kitsilano Beach).
Saturday: late registration 8-9am, Golf (all day), Singles and
Mixed Doubles Net. Dinner/party 7pm approx.
Sunday: Doubles Golf 8-9am, all players meeting 9am, Doubles Net.
Finals matches begin at 3pm. Post-tourney gathering t.b.a.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS from Washington State:

The I-5 Northbound takes you across the border and becomes the 99.
The 99 (not the 99A!) crosses the Oak St. bridge and turns into
Granville St. if you follow the "99" signs (if you dont follow the
signs it will take you onto Oak St. which is fine as well)
If you are on Oak St. at that point, keep going until you hit the
intersection with Broadway, take a left onto Broadway, continue 4 or 5
blocks and take a right onto Granville St.
If you are already on Granville St., just keep going and going until
you get all the way into downtown (after the Granville St. bridge you
will suddenly be on Seymour St. instead of Granville). You will be on
Seymour St. for 5 or 6 blocks.
Then take a left onto GeorgiaSt. Go 10 blocks or so, and follow the
signs that take you into Stanley Park. (watch that you dont get sucked
onto the bridge causeway!)
Stanley Park is a one way route all the way around...so watch for the
cricket grounds and the totem poles as you go. Keep going all the way
round to the other side of the tournament site, and quickly quickly
take a left into the parking lot.
If you miss it, you'll be taking a scenic drive around the park again

Note: while there is some parking at the spot closest to the site as
you know, it is really really limited.
--------------------
If you are coming up on Friday the 21st or earlier, then you want to
go directly to Kitsilano Beach:
The I-5 takes you across the border and becomes the 99. The 99 (not
the 99A!) crosses the Oak St. bridge and turns into Granville St. if
you follow the "99" signs (if you dont follow the signs it will take
you onto Oak St. which is fine as well)
If you are on Oak St. at that point, keep going until you hit the
intersection with Broadway, take a left onto Broadway, and continue
for approx. 14 blocks and take a right onto Yew St.
Follow Yew St. all the way down to the bottom and you are at Kitsilano
Beach. Unless you see a good spot to park, the simplest is to use the
Kits Beach parking: take a right onto Cornwall from Yew, then take the
first left, and then left into the parking lot (do buy a parking
ticket as they check often!).
At this point you will see the nets set up at the Park within view.
Or if its after seven p.m., walk one block up Yew, and ten feet right
on York and there is the Sunset Grill where registration takes place.
