For some there is Mecca, for others the Ganghis, but
for footbag net players there is only one
holy place - Montreal, Quebec. This city is
the birth place of today's best footbag net athletes
and has proved its dominance by the results of it's
players in recent years. The open singles title has
been claimed by a Montrealan the last
four years running. And only once in the past four
years was the open doubles crown worn by a team
outside of Montreal.
Although Montreal women have not yet truly broken into
the women's events... it is only a matter of time.
Training with the world's best footbag net athletes
has helped then progress at an unrivaled pace.
Already Marilyn holds a Mixed Doubles Net World title.
A feat that in itself shows great concentration,
competitive spirit, understanding of the game, and
most important of all, self-confidence.
Maude too has proven tough to beat in recent years.
She is gifted in all aspects of footbag net play and
bound to be one of the top women players in the years
to come. This team will be in San Francisco in August to show
the world their "New School" style of play that has proven so effective
proven so effective for the open teams in recent
years. Will they break through the old guard of the women's open category? Find out at the famed Justin Herman Plaza at the final rounds of the World Footbag Net Championships 2002.
