Footbag WorldWide provides e-mail-based (majordomo) discussion groups
to help footbag aficionados discuss all aspects of the sport in an
open forum. There are currently around 900 members on the
footbag lists in locations all around the world.
Most of the
top footbag players in the world are on the list, but don't let that
scare you off -- there are quite a lot of first-timers and casual players on the
list as well. The professional and advanced players are always happy to
share experiences, give tips, and inform the other members of upcoming
events and clubs in their areas.
We offer direct web access
to the footbag e-mail lists at our new website, <http://list.footbag.org>.
There are currently several lists available for you to join,
depending on your level of interest:
- FOOTBAG - a general discussion of the sport
- FREESTYLE - a discussion of freestyle (often very technical)
- ANNOUNCE - important announcements only (moderated)
If you join any of the lists above you will automatically receive
announcements. If you are concerned about getting too much e-mail,
we highly recommend you only join the ANNOUNCE list so that
you can keep aware of important footbag news. The announcements
list is "moderated" which means all postings must be approved
before they are sent out to members.
Joining and Leaving
We offer a simple, automated way to manage your footbag e-mail list
memberships. Just go to <http://list.footbag.org>.
Handling all the Mail
If you have a high-end e-mail program, such
as QualComm's Eudora Pro, you can
even set up an automatic filter, so that mail to any of the lists goes directly into
your footbag discussion mailbox(es) and doesn't interfere with your other mail.
What's a Digest?
There are actually two variants of each list above -- the "regular"
version (as explained above) and the "digest" version:
- regular
- mail is forwarded to you as it is sent -- i.e., you get
every message separately, with the return-address of the original sender,
relatively soon after it is sent.
- digest
- mail is accumulated for you until the end of the day, and then
a message is sent to you containing all that day's list traffic (if any)
in a single message. (While this option guarantees you no more than
one message a day, it is a little harder to reply to individual messages
unless you have a very smart mail program, in which case you might prefer to
use the regular form with automatic filtering as mentioned above.)
