A great spot with the contrasting scenery; Parks that stretch the length of the shoreline of the city with the usually flat calm waters of Lake Michigan on one side and the towering downtown architecture on the other... all meeting at one point. The Hancock Tower starts to dominate this section of skyline the farther south you go. This image was taken at about the midpoint of the concrete area of Oak Street Beach. So technically it's not a true beach that we play on. . Photo by Alex "Zeke" Ibardaloza.

You can usualy find us near the jugglers and the inline skaters. Its the perfect place to shred among other people who want to show off some skill or just kick-back hang-out and relax. We try not to set up our circles near the ends of the skaters cones. They zig-zag in and out of there fairly quick and I I've seen several collisions with careless poeple who get in the way. I started coming here in '97. I still love coming here summer after summer for the view, the people, the great atmosphere. Despite the fact that there is hardly any parking, no shade for hours, no cover from the wind/rain, no close place to get food and the closest bathroom is a good 7-10 minute walk away, LOL . A typical sunday at the beach. After several hours of shredding hard with no shade, the sun gradually moves west behind the skyline. Some of us take advantage of the long sunny days and shred for as long as humanly possible. Those who have already called it quits are cooling off in the shade, pondering what restaraunt to eat at before we decide who's house we are going to hang out at for the rest of the night. I miss the summer, I miss the beach.
