To join the list so you can send to it and receive other people's messages, simply:
Welcome. You have been added to an electronic mail distribution list
for Footbag related news items. The Internet address of the distribution
list is:
footbag@footbag.org
The purpose of this list is to facilitate open discussion on the sport
of Footbag (including net, freestyle, golf, consecs, etc.). This list
is the global source of Footbag information. Its purpose is to provide
a forum for footbag discussion topics of general interest to anyone
throughout the world, as well as specific local area topics such as
event announcements. You are encouraged to start your own discussion
threads on any topic related to Footbag. Such topics might include the
following:
- Ideas on how to increase the visibility of Footbag
- Upcoming Footbag events
- Footbag competition critiques
- Equipment reviews
- Rules questions
- Tips and techniques
- Classes and clinics
- How to contact/create your local league
- Open practice sessions/sites
- Requests for partners
Now, that you have been added to the list, you are encouraged to
introduce yourself to the rest of the group. You might include your
location (i.e. city, state, country) so that others in your area can
link up with you. Also, if you are strictly a freestyler or strictly
a net player, this might be good to know.
The list is unmoderated. Feel free to send out any message that you
feel is appropraite. Of course, you'll be flamed if others think your
message is inappropriate. :-)
ADMINISTRIVIA
You may find that there is occasionally a heavy volume of messages on
the footbag list. If you find that getting multiple messages a day is
either distracting or costly (some commercial services charge per
message), you may want to subscribe to the digest version of the Footbag
list. The Footbag Digest is a compilation of all the messages sent out
that day. At the end of the day, this compilation is formatted with a
table of contents and sent to all the members of the digest version.
Digest members still reply to messages in the same manner as regular
members.
To post a message to the entire list, send email to:
footbag@footbag.org
All administrative requests to add/remove/change addresses on the list
should be sent to:
footbag-request@footbag.org (internet address)
Please include your first and last name somewhere in the message. If you
want to add or remove yourself from the Footbag list, please indicate
which version in the Subject line of your message in the following
manner:
Subject: Add {for regular version of the Footbag list}
Subject: Add Digest {for digest version of the Footbag list}
Subject: Remove {for regular version of the Footbag list}
Subject: Remove Digest {for digest version of the Footbag list}
If you would like to switch from one version of the list to the other,
just send a message indicating which version you would like to switch
to:
Subject: Switch Digest {for digest version of the Footbag list}
or
Subject: Switch Regular {for regular version of the Footbag list}
You are encouraged to publicize this list to other individuals and in
other groups (i.e. rec.sport.misc?). Make sure you give other people
the footbag-request address so the members aren't bothered with addition
requests.
FOR WWW USERS: If you are lucky enough to have access to a WWW Browser
such as Netscape or Mosaic, check out the Footbag WorldWide pages. The
URL is http://www.footbag.org and it is growing everyday. You can
even order footbag equipment from FootMart, the world's largest source
of equipment for footbag enthusiasts.
IMPORTANT FINAL NOTE: It is your responsibility to notify the list
administrator when your e-mail address changes. I do not have the
time to try to track people down when messages bounce from the
subscription address that you have submitted. Test messages will be
sent out to the distribution list roughly once each month. If a month
goes by and you don't see any messages sent to the distribution list,
you may have been dropped from the list due to mailing problems. To
find out if you are still on the list, send a note to the administration
address listed above.
